Spend an afternoon discovering the magic of indigo dyeing and the ancient Japanese art of shibori.
In a relaxed environment, artist Susanne Rott will guide a small group (max 7 students) through itajime techniques including wrapping, folding, and clamping techniques in order to create two different silk scarves.
Once a month, we’ll be extending our open hours at Production Mode! Our August extended hours event will be in partnership with an organization near and dear to us, Chicago Fair Trade. Join us + CFT's Conscious Closet Club from 6-8 pm for an evening of shopping, community, snacks, cocktails, and an informal talk & Q&A on evaluating the quality of clothing with PM designer Jamie Hayes.

We’re hosting Salvage Cloth straight from Brooklyn!
In addition to the pieces we already love in the shop, Carie, the designer of Salvage Cloth, is bringing all new designs just for the weekend—plus more sizes!
We're excited to be back in NYC to pop-up with Salvage Cloth. We'll be in our usual spot in the East Village at 434 E. 9th St. Saturday & Sunday, July 11 & 12, 12-7 pm.

Lucy Leith, designer and Production Mode’s mending expert will lead a small group (10 ppl max) through the basics of darning.
What is darning?
Darning is the act of repairing a torn or worn out piece of cloth by hand, weaving new threads into the old. It is a surprisingly simple mending technique that works great for small holes, like in worn out socks, chunkier knits, jeans, and moth-eaten sweaters, without the need for additional fabric patches.
Lucy will provide a demo, physical examples and diagrams to follow along, and guidance while you repair your own garments.
This workshop is intended to be fun and relaxing, for absolute beginners and experienced sewists alike. Come out for an enjoyable evening while learning a new skill. Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

Designer Delphine Pontvieux will lead a small group (7 ppl max) through the process of assembling and embellishing an *undyed vegetable tanned leather belt.

Designer Kari Alvarado Hoff of Hija de Nada will be back in the shop for a mini trunk show! Come by between 12-2 pm to shop for a new hat, drop one off to be restored, and try on Kari's collection of hand-loomed knits: the perfect spring layer.
